He Who Dares….

One of my favourite movies is “The Pursuit Of Happyness” a film based on the life of Chris Gardner,a great businessman who had to endure some difficult, and desperate times and even at one point had to live on the streets with his small son.

There’s a great scene where the father and son are playing basketball and as they were playing the father says to his son “don’t stay out here all day playing ball because after all you’ll probably end up as an average player just like me”

The words have a huge impact on the boy and he throws the ball away and walks off the court.

The father realises how much those words have hurt his son and he says to him “don’t you ever let anyone tell you that you can’t be something great – not even me”

You may find that people want to judge you by their own standards or limitations. Others may even just plain want to discourage you,and some others may think they’re coming from the place of wanting to help guide your path and in their eyes stop you from wasting time and making big mistakes.

They might be teachers, work colleagues, friends,or like in the story, even family, but if you have done all that you can think to do in terms of investing in what you believe in (if it’s business, for example,to do due diligence,to research,to get wisdom and solid teaching from whatever reliable sources you can etc etc),then shake off those dead words and keep at it

There’s always a price in seeing your dreams become a reality, and you can bet that you’ll go through a time or times when you’re facing obstacles, feel rejected and discouraged and maybe even feel the fear, but keep going, keep believing, and keep reinforcing what your dream or goal is. I always think it’s a good idea to put anything you want to achieve down in writing. Even put it somewhere where you can see it on a regular basis then you just need to go for it with everything that you have.
